This botanical university garden is a public-oriented garden as well as a research garden. Together with the university gardens of Leiden and Utrecht, the Delft Hortus participates in the scientific botanical network of the Netherlands. Delft particularly specialises in applied technological education and also in technological plant research. It was founded in 1917 , as a "Garden for the cultivation of plants of economic interest". The garden is about 2.5 hectares in size, it consists of an arboretum, annual flowering plant garden, plants for commercial use and a greenhouse complex.
The garden is open to the public and offers educational programs, guided tours, and special events. It is a great place to explore the beauty of nature and learn about the importance of conservation.
