Beemster is a municipality in North Holland, located in the northwest of the province, between the cities of Alkmaar and Hoorn. It is known for its cheese, which is made from the milk of cows that graze on the area's rich, grassy pastures.
The Beemster Polder, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a large area of reclaimed land that was drained in the early 17th century. The area is home to many historic windmills, churches, qauint village with many photogenic facades and lovely Dutch countryside.
