Manzanillo Beach, in the province of Limón, Costa Rica, attracts both locals and tourists alike with its stunning tropical landscape and its unique shipwreck. Run aground on December 8th 2017, the Yicel cargo vessel has remained lodged in the sand since then. Visitors can find themselves mesmerized by the colorful paintings that now cover the rusting rusted metal. The vessel is mostly above the water line, making it easily accessible for visitors wear appropriate footwear, to explore. There are plenty of steps missing up to the bridge, however, careful exploration and venturing into the captain's quarters presents a wildly eerie but exciting experience. Ample opportunities remain to explore the beach, as well as the nearby rainforest and have close encounters with wildlife such as dolphins, turtles, and manatees.
