Heaven on a hot day in the top end of the Northern Territory. I loved this beautiful spot in Nitmiluk National Park. The falls cascade down rocky cliffs into inviting pools where you can swim and relax. It's a popular place for hiking with trails that offer great views of the falls and the surrounding bushland. Its important to note that these falls are only swimmable during the dry season (April to November) and become unsafe for swimming during the wet season.
There are a few different sections to the falls. As you follow the walking trails from the carpark which are marked with arrows you will reach the main pool area. This is a huge pool area that you can swim or float in. When I visited about 5 or 6 people were swimming around the edges but most people will head up to the upper pool which is a smaller swimming area but is filled with multiple pools and bigger cascades.
To get to the upper falls you will need to follow the Leliyn Trail loop walk which is a 2.6km moderate walk. You can do this walk in either direction. Both directions have a bit of an incline so honestly take your pick because they both have their ups and downs. The trail has two lookouts of the cascades which you should check out along the way.
Once you get to the upper falls find the flattest rock you can and enjoy the scenes. The water is beautiful, when I visited it was 36 degrees and I think I went in and out of the water at least 20 times ahah.
