These three rock formations in Girraween National Park make for a fun adventure during your visit to the region. To explore all three and return, it will take about 8 kilometres in total, starting from the Castle Rock campsite. The trail is easy to follow and will get your heart racing as you navigate it. You’ll reach a junction that leads you up to Castle Rock first. From the peak of this rock, you’re treated to stunning views of the unique terrain, including glimpses of Pyramid Rock and Sphinx Rock in the distance. I chose to eat some food and enjoy the sunshine and views at this point.
Next, walk back down to the junction and follow the signs to Sphinx Rock, which is about 2 kilometres away. The track is well-marked with signs and directions, so it would be hard to get lost. Once you reach Sphinx Rock, take some time to appreciate the boulder’s balance before walking about 100 meters further to reach Turtle Rock. I must admit I couldn’t quite see the resemblance to turtle figures, but use your imagination—it’s beautiful nonetheless.
