Choosing a favorite beach on Rottnest Island is tough because they're all amazing, but Little Parakeet Bay definitely ranks in my top three. Nestled on the peaceful northern side of the island, this beach offers a pristine stretch of soft sand and tranquil turquoise waters that are perfect for a relaxing swim or snorkeling adventure.
To explore Rottnest, you'll need to walk or bike around the island, and getting to Little Parakeet Bay requires a bit of effort, which adds to its secluded vibe. Despite that, when I visited, it was a popular spot for snorkeling among other travelers.
One of the things I loved about this bay is its natural wind protection. The West Coast is very windy but the rock cliffs at this bay act as a buffer against the wind, making the beach experience much more pleasant. Surrounded by coastal dunes and native flora, Little Parakeet Bay invites you to wander scenic walking trails and discover perfect picnic spots with stunning views of the Indian Ocean. It's truly a place where you can relax, unwind, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature.
