Wilson’s Prom is renowned for its wombats and is arguably the best place in Victoria to see them in the wild. The Prom Wildlife Walk is a fantastic way to get up close and personal with these adorable creatures. This easy 2.3-kilometer circuit is perfect for those who want to enjoy nature without tackling a strenuous hike.
The trail meanders through diverse habitats, including dense bushland and open woodlands. While walking it keep your eyes peeled for wombats, kangaroos, emus, wallabies, and a variety of colorful bird species. Having your camera ready is a must, these animals can be sky and might run away if they feel threatened. For the best wildlife viewing, try to visit in the late afternoon or early morning. When I went just after sunrise, I didn’t encounter many people and was lucky enough to see a flock of about eight emus chilling, it was a truly magical experience.
One of the highlights of the Prom Wildlife Walk is immersing yourself in the park’s serene environment. The soothing sounds of nature, the fresh air, and the beautiful scenery create a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. It’s a lovely way to connect with the natural world and enjoy the tranquility of Wilsons Promontory.
