On your drive from Adelaide to the Flinders Ranges, you'll pass through the town of Port Augusta, a perfect pit stop to stock up on any gear or groceries you might need for your outback adventure. It’s the ideal place to prepare for your journey into the wild. While you’re in Port Augusta, I swung by the Matthew Flinders Red Cliff Lookout. It’s a fantastic spot to take a breather and break up the long drive.

The red earth cliffs here are absolutely stunning. I kicked back in my car and soaked up the sun on one of the benches, enjoying the peaceful surroundings. If you’re feeling a bit more energetic, there are also walking tracks with historical information panels that offer a nice way to stretch your legs while learning about the area. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick visit or planning to relax and take in the beauty of the landscape, the Red Cliff Lookout is a great spot to unwind and appreciate the stunning scenery.
