Another absolute must-see spot in Karijini is Joffre Gorge, it's seriously unique, with a captivating curved waterfall that flows seasonally. I found this place incredibly cool and different, especially after exploring other gorges in Karijini National Park. The rock formations here are similar yet uniquely stunning.
To reach the gorge, you'll follow a 1.6 km return trail that involves navigating ladders and steps, typical of hikes in this national park. Watch your step on the mossy rocks it can get quite slippery, as I found out! Once you're down, you have options: head left to find a large pool perfect for a refreshing dip in the hot North WA weather. I swam about 100 meters downstream and was amazed that the scenery remained consistently beautiful with striking rock formations.
After exploring the pool, head back toward the stairs and continue in that direction to discover a spectacular curved rock formation. Depending on the time of year, you might even catch a small waterfall cascading down from the rocks.
