Nestled in Australia's North West, Hamersley Gorge is a prized gem within Karijini National Park. Reaching Hamersley involves a drive along a dirt road, manageable even with a 2WD vehicle with a bit of patience. Upon arriving at the carpark, a short 500-meter return walk downstairs leads you to the water's edge.
This destination boasts one of Australia's most picturesque natural spa pools, making it truly Instagram-worthy. From the base of the stairs, you have a multitude of natural wonders to explore. Numerous pool sections offer spots to relax in the sun and take refreshing dips. Follow the water upstream, and you'll discover the spa pool—a serene spot that may require a bit of wading, so bring a dry bag for your phone if you plan to capture the beauty.
What truly stole the show for me at Hamersley Gorge are the captivating windy patterns etched into the vibrant red rock formations. The contrast is so striking and beautiful that it almost appears surreal.
This spot is perfect for packing a picnic, bringing along a towel, and lounging for a few hours while soaking in its natural splendor. Unlike other gorges in the park, Hamersley Gorge is expansive, with ample large rocks and space for visitors to spread out and create their own personal oasis.
