Love this spot! If you’re heading to Kosciuszko National Park, definitely carve out some extra time to visit Yarrangobilly Caves and the thermal pool. I hiked Mount Kosciuszko and then drove here in the same day, and btw it’s a bit of a long drive between the two. The drive takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes, so plan accordingly, especially since the caves are only open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
When you arrive, head to the information center to grab a map and pay the entry fee. It’s $4.00 per vehicle, and if you want to explore the South Glory Cave with a self-guided tour, it’s $22.00. There are other caves to explore as well, but their fees vary and they’re not self-guided. The caves themselves are a marvel of natural beauty, with impressive limestone formations and eerie underground landscapes that showcase stunning stalactites and stalagmites.
The real highlight, though, is the Thermal Pool. This naturally heated pool stays at a cozy 27ºC year-round, making it perfect for a refreshing swim in the summer or a warm soak while steam rises in the winter. Surrounded by a scenic mountain backdrop, it’s an ideal spot to unwind and soak in the natural beauty and tranquility of the area.
