Coconut Wells is my ultimate rock pool paradise in Australia, like, seriously, it's a total gem and not at all what I expected from Broome. This place has it all, a gorgeous lagoon and ever-changing rock pools that are just begging to be explored.
Here's the deal: You've got to time it right. High tide is when the lagoon comes alive with locals and tourists floating downstream on tubes, having a blast. And let me tell you, the clay and mud under the water was so entertaining to me. It dries white on your skin, so naturally, I couldn't resist turning myself into a walking art project!
Now, when the tide's low, that's when the rock pools reveal themselves. Crystal-clear water, sharp rocks, and no formal path—just follow your instincts down to the beach about 300 meters from the carpark.
A quick tip: Wear slides or shoes you don't mind getting wet because those rocks are no joke. And trust me on this one, be careful jumping in and out of those pools. I got a bit too excited exploring, banged my knee really good, and ended up hobbling around for a week. Whoopsies!
So whether you're up for a chill day by the water or ready to dive into an epic rock pool adventure, Coconut Wells has got you covered. It's the kind of place that's all about fun, sun, and making unforgettable memories.
