Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas is a quintessential Australian beach, embodying the tropical allure of Far North Queensland. As the name suggests, it stretches for an impressive four miles, offering a vast expanse of golden sand that's perfect for both unwinding and adventure. The gentle waves are inviting for a refreshing swim, and the beach’s wide open space ensures plenty of room to spread out and find your ideal spot.

If you’re planning to take a dip, be sure to swim only in the lifeguard-patrolled areas towards the northern end of the beach. Personally, I wasn’t quite brave enough to take a swim given the Croc Country reputation but rest assured, the patrolled zones are safe for a splash.

During my visit, I loved strolling along the beach, discovering a charming path lined with swaying palm trees and enjoying the breathtaking views of the Coral Sea. Nearby, there are several cafes and restaurants where you can savor delicious meals with a fantastic beachside view—perfect for a post-swim bite or a sunset drink.

Speaking of sunsets, don’t miss the chance to witness one at Four Mile Beach. The sky comes alive with stunning hues of pink and orange, beautifully reflecting off the tranquil waters. And definitely pack your sunscreen and a hat; the tropical sun can be intense, and you’ll want to enjoy every moment of this stunning beach without any worries. Four Mile Beach is a wonderful blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and local charm that truly captures the essence of a tropical escape.
