The Metrocable offers a comprehensive view of one of the poorest areas in Medellín, which, due to its geography, was difficult to access. Because of temperature considerations, the cabin windows are quite dark, making it challenging to take good photos or videos from within the cabins.
Upon arriving at Santo Domingo, if you want to continue to Parque Arví, you need to transfer to a new station where you must purchase a new, more expensive ticket to continue your journey. While the first part of the Metrocable provides a panoramic view of certain urban sectors of Medellín, the second part of the trip allows you to see the traditional vegetation of the areas surrounding the city. It is a rather long journey before reaching the park area.
Santo Domingo Station
For tourists, the ride on the metro or Metrocable—from Acevedo to Santo Domingo—costs 1,800 Colombian pesos, about one dollar. The Metrocable from Santo Domingo to Arví, which is aimed more at tourists and locals looking for a getaway from the city, costs 4,200 Colombian pesos, a little over two dollars. From Monday to Saturday, the metro and Metrocable operate between 4:30 AM and 11:00 PM, except for the Metrocable to Arví, which operates from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Important: this cable has a daily passenger limit, so on weekends, it is recommended to board it early. This limit is in place to avoid overloading the services at Parque Arví.
