Nestled along the southern coast of Crete, Kalamaki is a charming coastal village that offers you a perfect blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and authentic Cretan hospitality. Unlike the bustling resorts of northern Crete, Kalamaki retains a laid-back atmosphere.

Kalamaki is best known for its stunning beach, a long stretch of golden soft sand and the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea. The waves and shallow waters make it a good spot for families with kids. The beach is well organized, with umbrellas, showers, lifeguard, food services, watersports and beach bars. Enjoy a scenic walk at the promenade and enjoy the view.

The beach is also famous for being a nesting site of the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), adding an element of ecological significance to the area.

Sunsets in Kalamaki are truly spectacular. A lot of people gather along the shore to witness this natural display, often while enjoying a meal or drink at one of the beachfront tavernas.

If you are a sunset lover this is a great spot to watch the sun going down with view at the Paximadia Island.

You'll find excellent tavernas that serve traditional Cretan cuisine. Fresh seafood, locally grown vegetables, and aromatic herbs are part of the local dishes. Popular meals include grilled octopus, dakos (a rusk-based salad with tomatoes and feta), and the renowned Cretan lamb. Enjoy this amazing food while dining by the sea, accompanied by a glass of local wine or raki.

You will find everything you need in Kalamaki like supermarkets, bakeries, butchers and so on.

Close to the beach of Kalamaki you"ll be able to go the another beautiful beach: Kommos beach.
