Meldon Quarry is a beautiful spot which is perfect for a summer picnic, or as part of the many walking trails that take in this area.
The granite quarry is now inactive, and on a sunny day, the water turns a brilliant blue green colour and is just stunning. I’m often asked whether swimming is allowed here but unfortunately it is not, and with it being a quarry, you never know what is underneath the water.
Parking is simple either at Meldon Reservoir or if you take the road under Meldon Viaduct and turn right at the end of it, there will be another free car park.
