Looking for a magical sunset dip in Dartmoor? Look no further than Shilley Pool! This adorable plunge pool nestled at the bottom of a natural waterslide is the perfect spot for families and adventure-seekers alike. With shimmering water reflecting the golden hues of the sky during sunset, Shilley Pool offers a picturesque setting for a refreshing swim.
In terms of how to get to this spot, it does require a bit of navigation but is an easy walk. There is a car park on the narrow road from South Zeal to Throwleigh which is the best spot to start the walk. You'll want to look out for Moor Farm, and just before this, you'll see a grass and gravel area west of the road used by locals for parking. Once parked up, you'll wander back in the direction of South Zeal. There is a split in the road, and just after this but before a cattle grid, there is a strip of moorland running south west along the southern bank of Blackaton Brook in the direction of Shilley Pool. Follow this path, it should very obvious but it does get boggy unless there has been an extended dry spell, do perhaps bring some boots to do the walk.
The pool gets a lot of afternoon sun so this is definitely the best time go!
