Aioi-no-sugi, also known as the "Wedded Cedar Tree," is a unique natural wonder - it is a pair of cedar trees that have grown side by side, their trunks intertwined and fused together. This rare phenomenon has created a single, majestic tree with two distinct trunks, symbolizing unity and eternal love.
The legend says that this cedar tree represents a married couple, embodying the spirits of a man and a woman deeply in love. It is believed that praying to Aioi-no-sugi can bring good fortune and strengthen the bonds of relationships, particularly those of love and marriage.
You can also notice the Shimenawa rope around the tree. If you are curious about its meaning, be sure to check out some trivia about it by clicking the link.
