Shrine with the remarkable 14-meter-tall vermilion Torii gates, surrounded by the breathtaking Arashiyama mountains. It was founded in 701, making it one of the oldest Shrines in Kyoto.

There are plenty of amazing spots inside the Shrine and all of them are worth visiting:

1. Experience Three Beautiful Gardens by the famous landscape designer Mirei Shigemori and Sinzokan museum (for ¥500 you get to enter all of them).

Get Your Ticket: Check the "Step 1" attached photo. Buy a ¥500 ticket at the booth. You can also get some delicious Matcha + traditional Japanese dessert for an additional ¥500 (to be paid at the same booth) in one of the gardens with an amazing view (highly recommended).

*Since 2024 Matcha option is only available during weekends.

Visit the first two Gardens: Check the "Step 2" attached photo. The first two gardens are located in the same area, and there is also a tea house where you can have that Matcha mentioned above. Also, there is a Museum (no extra fee) with 21 God statues.

2. Kamenoi - sacred spring: Check the 5th photo. Sake brewers use that water for sake, and it is also known as 'prolonging life' and 'reviving' water. You can even buy an empty bottle (¥100) and get some of that spring water for yourself 📍location

3. Reiki Falls: A small waterfall with Torii gates in front of it 📍location

4. Visit the third Garden: Check the "Step 3" attached photo. 📍Entrance to the third garden is right behind the Dampurin cafe.

5. Sake museum and shop: 📍location
