Message from Kieran - Exploring Scotland

Blackness Castle, located in Scotland near the village of Blackness, is a 15th-century fortress with a rich history. Built by Sir George Crichton in the 1440s, it served as a state prison and a royal stronghold. Over the years, it underwent various fortifications and was even used as an ammunition depot during the 19th century. With its unique ship-like shape and strategic location on the Firth of Forth, Blackness Castle has been dubbed "the ship that never sailed." Today, it is a well-preserved historic site managed by Historic Environment Scotland, offering visitors a glimpse into Scotland's past.
