The Oyster River Potholes are a hidden gem near Campbell River.

There are two locations to explore: the first is a 15 minute drive from Campbell River along Highway 19; the second is more of an adventure down a rough road with a bit of scrambling.

The lower potholes are easy to access and are a great swimming hole. Here you will find a series of potholes in a crystal clear river.

The upper potholes are more hidden and you need to map out your route before driving there. They provide a more secluded and picturesque setting with small waterfalls and cascades.

Directions to the upper potholes:

  • Drive down Cranberry Lane to Iron River Road. Iron River Road will turn into Duncan Main. Follow Duncan Main to the Piggot Main exit. Drive down Piggot Main for approximately 5 kilometers until Pig2F, which is a small logging road on your right.  Look for the trail markers on the trees to find your way. This is easier to access with a 4WD vehicle with high clearance.
