When exploring the Dolomites, having the right apps can make your trip much smoother. From weather forecasts to hiking navigation and photography planning, these apps will help you get the most out of your adventure.

1. 3B Meteo – Stay Ahead of the Weather

Weather in the mountains can change quickly, so having an accurate forecast is essential. 3B Meteo provides hourly updates, long-term predictions, and real-time conditions for different regions. I always check this app before heading out on a hike.

2. Dolomiti Bus & SudTirol Mobile – Get Around Easily

If you’re relying on public transport, these apps will be super helpful:

  • Dolomiti Bus: Covers routes around Cortina, Misurina, Lagazuoi, and Corvara—perfect for getting to some of the best hiking spots.

  • SudTirol Mobile: The best option for traveling around Brixen, Bolzano, Merano, Ortisei, and Lago di Braies.

3. Komoot – Your Ultimate Hiking Guide

Komoot is my go-to app for planning and navigating hikes. You can find detailed trail maps, follow GPS routes with turn-by-turn voice navigation, and even use offline maps when there's no signal. I’ve linked most hikes in my guide via Komoot, so you can easily follow them. You can create a free account for the best usage.

4. Maps.me – Offline Maps for Remote Areas

Unlike Google Maps, Maps.me includes many lesser-known trails, making it an excellent option for exploring off the beaten path. Download the maps in advance, and you’ll have full access even without an internet connection. (You can download 12x areas for free and if you dont need them anymore you can just delete them and download others instead)

5. Google Translate – Break the Language Barrier

Whether you need help with a menu, asking for directions, or chatting with locals, Google Translate supports over 200 languages with text, voice, and photo translation. Super handy for ordering food or reading signs in small mountain villages!

6. PeakFinder – Identify the Mountains Around You

Ever wondered what mountains you’re looking at? Just open PeakFinder, point your phone at the landscape, and it will instantly name the peaks—even without mobile data. I love using it to learn more about the stunning Dolomite scenery. (Its not for free and cost around 5€)

7. PhotoPills – Plan the Perfect Shot

For landscape photographers, PhotoPills is an great tool. It helps you plan sunrises, sunsets, and even Milky Way shots, so you’re always in the right place at the right time. The app costs €12.99, but it’s worth it if you love capturing epic moments. First it feels overwhelming but I would recommend to check out a YouTube tutorial—it’s easier than it looks!

8. Park4Night – The Best Spots for Campervans

If you're traveling with a campervan, Park4Night is a must-have. It helps you find great overnight parking spots, including official campsites, free parking areas, and hidden gems recommended by other travelers. Super useful for planning where to stay after a long day of exploring! --> Its for free, but there is also a paid version available with more customisable features (9€ per year).

These apps will help you navigate, plan, and enjoy the Dolomites with ease. Download them before your trip, and you’ll be well-prepared for an unforgettable adventure!
