Kasuga Taisha is Nara's top shrine, dedicated to the deity safeguarding the city. It's famous for its lanterns which lead up to the shrine light up during special festivals. You can stroll through the forested grounds and check out the Botanical Garden nearby (with wisteria blooming in May!). Don't miss the Kasuga Taisha Museum for a peek at the shrine's treasures.
