Gaustatoppen is a must if you're in Telemark. It's the highest mountain in the county, and the best thing is that you can take the short-cut to inside the mountain with Gaustabanen, So it's accessible for everyone! :) And if you're up for an adventure - bring your skis and ski back down.

Gaustatoppen Turisthytte is a cozy cabin located at the top of Gaustatoppen. With only eleven beds available, booking in advance through the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) is recommended. The cabin also serves delicious waffles and light meals, making it a perfect spot to refuel after a challenging hike to the top. Keep in mind that's usually closed until early February. But don't worry - there's another café here that serves coffee and waffles the whole winter.
