The Brooklyn Museum is one of the oldest art museums in the United States. It opened in 1895. The Beau Art building houses a permanent collection of over 1.5 million works of art from around the world, spanning ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary art. Outside the Museum you will find a replica of the Statue of Liberty commissioned in 1900, it once stood on top of Liberty Warehouse in the Upper West Side. Brooklyn Museum has free entrance on the first saturday evening of each month.
