Loughcrew Cairns, also known as the Hills of the Witch, are a group of ancient Neolithic passage tombs located near Oldcastle in County Meath. Dating back to 3000 BC, these tombs are spread across four rolling peaks and are adorned with stunning examples of Neolithic art. One of the largest tombs, Cairn T, features a cruciform chamber and a roof made of corbelled stones. Visitors can witness the alignment of the cairn with the sunrise during the spring and autumn equinoxes, making it a popular spot for gatherings to welcome the first rays of the sun. Guided tours offer insights into the history and mythology surrounding these fascinating monuments.
