Windhoek, the capital and largest city of Namibia, is a bustling hub located in central Namibia at around 1,700 meters above sea level. With a population of 486,169 in 2023, this city is constantly growing due to migration from other regions in Namibia. It serves as the social, economic, political, and cultural center of the country, housing numerous national enterprises, governmental bodies, educational institutions, and cultural establishments. Windhoek's history dates back to the 19th century when it was founded by Jonker Afrikaner and later established as a German colonial town in 1890. Today, it stands as a vibrant and diverse city that reflects Namibia's rich heritage and modern development.
