The Capitol Reef Scenic Drive is easily one of the best scenic drives in southern Utah. The scenic drive begins at the Capitol Reef Visitor Center and continues into a picturesque canyon. An entrance fee is required to access the Capitol Reef Scenic Drive.
The first 7.9 miles are paved and suitable for any passenger vehicle. There’s a parking lot at the end of the paved road. From there you can continue driving along the Capitol Gorge spur road. This road is unpaved, but should be navigable by passenger cars. You can also take the Grand Wash spur road off of the Scenic Drive, which ends at the trailhead for Cassidy Arch.
Be aware, you should not drive the Capitol Reef Scenic Drive if rain is in the forecast due to flash flood risks.
