The Moab Rim Trail is one of the most challenging hikes on this list, but your efforts will be rewarded with some pretty epic views. Begin your hike on Kane Creek Road on the south side of the Colorado River. The first mile of the trail is the most strenuous, quickly gaining almost 900 ft. The majority of the climb traverses slickrock, so wearing shoes with good traction, like Altra Lone Peaks, is a must.

Once you top out at the top of the Moab Rim, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the city of Moab and La Sal mountains in the distance. If you continue along the trail you’ll eventually leave the rim and hike behind the rocks before connecting up to the Happy Valley Trail (you can also combine the two as a point-to-point hike).
