Gorgeous alpine lake hike. Steep and difficult track.

Further information: Lake Marian is a pristine and breathtaking alpine lake on the South Island of New Zealand, near the Fiordland National Park. Situated at the southern end of the Darran Mountains in a hidden mountain valley, it is fed by icy waters from Marian Creek and drained by the same creek down to the Hollyford River. Lake Marian boasts stunning 360-degree mountain views with over 2,000 metre high peaks surrounding it, and the crystal clear water offers incredible reflection of the snow-capped peaks. A 3-hour return tramping track leads to this idyllic spot where visitors can enjoy a peaceful, scenic escape.
