The most beautiful aqua blue lake you have to see to believe
Further information: Lake Pukaki, located between Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, is renowned for its breathtakingly blue hue. From the road, travelers can stop at Peter's Lookout for a stunning view of Lake Pukaki's surreal color from above. The lake's azure shade is thanks to glacial flour, the finely ground rock particles from nearby glaciers that sink into the depths to create an icy blue tint. While driving along the lake, travelers can also take advantage of scenic viewpoints and photo opportunities along the way. With its picturesque, other-worldy look, it's no wonder why Lake Pukaki is one of the South Island's top must-sees.
