Opera Point Historic Reserve is a must-see for any Coromandel explorer. The reserve contains an incredibly well-preserved headland pa, believed to date back to around 1700, and the site of Craig’s Sawmill, which operated in 1862. Through dense bush filled with ancient pohutukawa trees, visitors can trek up to the summit of Opera Point and take in breathtaking coastal views, or follow the graded mill tramway through lovely nikau palms, and beach at the sawmill site. This memorable experience is sure to linger with you long after your visit.
