The Karanfili hike is a popular trek in Montenegro that takes hikers through the stunning Karanfili mountain range. The hike typically begins in the small town of Grebaje, which is located at the base of the mountains. From there, hikers make their way up the slopes, through lush forests, rocky terrain, and alpine meadows, with the peak of Mount Karanfili (2460 meters) as the ultimate goal.
The Karanfili hike is a challenging trek that requires a good level of fitness and experience in mountain hiking. However, the stunning views and the sense of accomplishment that comes with reaching the summit make it a rewarding experience for those who are up to the challenge.
The location on the map is the exact spot where the hike begins. To get to the viewpoint where these shots where taken you follow the path that leads up to the Volusnica viewpoint. Once you reach this viewpoint you can choose to return the same way as you came, or make a loop (which will add several hours). We took the way back as it was getting dark when we left the place.
