Paria Canyon Overlook
Perched above the vast wilderness of the Paria River basin, the Paria Canyon Overlook offers one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Southern Utah.

Scenic Highlights
From the overlook, you're treated to panoramic views of colorful sandstone layers carved by time and weather into intricate formations. The dramatic drop into the canyon below reveals a rugged desert landscape that stretches for miles. At sunset or sunrise, the shifting light brings out the rich hues of orange, red, and gold that ripple through the terrain, making it a photographer's dream.

• Trail Condition: No major hike is required to reach the overlook—it’s a short walk from the parking area, making it easily accessible for visitors of all abilities. 4x4 with high clearance is highly recommended.

Photography Tips

• Best Light: The overlook is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, when the landscape glows with soft light and rich shadows.

• Gear: A wide-angle lens is ideal to capture the expansive canyon below. For a unique perspective, drone photography is permitted (outside wilderness-designated zones) and can reveal stunning aerial views of the winding canyon system.

• Milky Way Season: With low light pollution, this area also makes a great location for astrophotography during the spring and summer months.

Dog-Friendly
Dogs are welcome at the overlook, but should be kept on leash and under control. Be cautious of cliff edges and avoid hiking on hot surfaces during warmer months.
