3hr hike up stairs to hut with views to die for!
From a reviewer:
"Has got to be one of the most beautiful huts - out of many - in New Zealand! Incredible terrace area overlooking the Hairaki Gulf is the highlight for sunsets, and night skies are excellent as elsewhere on Aotea. Facilities are also good - no need to bring your own stove or pots or cutlery which is a bonus! Depending on your fitness it’s an easy couple of hours or so walk to the hot springs, or less to the next hut on the Aotea track. Worth visiting on its own for a night if you don’t have time for the whole track!'
Mt. Heale Hut on Great Barrier Island offers a cozy stay with 20 bunk beds, two toilets, gas cooking facilities, and stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf. The hut requires advance booking online and provides roof water (boil before use) for drinking. With a relaxed vibe and easy access to nearby tracks, it's the perfect spot for a nature-filled getaway in the Auckland region.
