Waitangi Falls in Glenbrook is a lovely spot for a swim and a relaxed picnic with the whanau. It’s just a short stroll from the carpark, with plenty of grassy areas and a picnic table to enjoy.
The pool at the base of the falls is pretty deep, so you'll see locals jumping off the rocks into the water.
Located near Waiuku, this charming 6-meter-high horsetail waterfall is perfect for a quick dip. It’s a peaceful, easy-to-reach spot that locals love, so don’t forget your towel if you’re planning to swim. To get there, just follow the hidden track from the carpark—it’s a short walk and totally worth it.
You can access the reserve from the end of Waitangi Falls Road.
From a reviewer:
'Wonderful piece of nature, well maintained and preserved the nature. I visited in fist week of October and it was wonderful experience and left the place with the aim that will come again. There is eating setup with table and chair; one in park above the fall and one on the level of fall, so you can have wonderful experience there. Please be note camping is not allowed here.'
Hint: Check out Sandpit Reserve in Waiuku if you have extra time. It's just a short 10 minute drive and quite the hidden gem beach!
