This magical site was nicknamed the "Sacred Promontory" by the ancient Romans and holds a special place in Portuguese history. It is steeped in a unique legacy connected to Prince D. Henrique and the Portuguese Discoveries, owing to its impressive strategic position on the Portuguese coastline. In addition to exploring the fortress, you'll relish the beautiful views of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park.

Free Entry: Sundays and holidays until 2:00 PM for all citizens residing in national territory

Children up to 12 years old

Summer: May to September — 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM (1)

Winter: October to April — 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM

NOTE (1) – For operational reasons and until further update, the opening hours will be maintained between 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM, starting from May 2023.
