🇺🇸 Idanha-a-Velha was once an ancient Roman city, located in the central-eastern region of Portugal. It stands as one of the country's oldest settlements, with origins dating back to ancient Rome. It is also part of the network of Historic Villages of Portugal. We were impressed by the abundance of historical ruins scattered throughout the village. Notable features include an ancient defensive wall, a Roman bridge over the Pônsul River, the Cathedral, the Templar Tower, and the archaeological site.
