Message from Liz Long

London Bridge has a long history of crossings over the River Thames in London, with the current bridge being a modern concrete and steel structure that opened in 1973. It replaced a 19th-century stone-arched bridge, which had replaced a medieval stone-built bridge. The area around the bridge has been a hub of activity for centuries, with homes, businesses, and even a chapel dedicated to Thomas Becket on the bridge. London Bridge is not just a physical structure but a symbol of the city's rich history and connection to the river.
