This is a great family friendly 10 mile bike or walk along the Truckee River. During the Summer the river is usually full of people rafting - another great local activity you should put on your list while here in the summer. I love talking this bike ride in the Fall when the river is less crowded and a bit more peaceful.

The Truckee River Bike Path is a great way to explore the amazing landscapes along the beautiful Truckee River from River Ranch to Tahoe City and Lake Tahoe. It is a cruiser bike ride that is level and family friendly- perfect for all ages, with caution towards all other users, such as pedestrians, joggers, rafters, and fisherman. Starting at the Transit Center parking lot, riders get to experience stunning views of the Truckee River eco-system all while cruisin' alongside it. History buffs will appreciate the path as it was once a route for horse-drawn freight and passenger wagons. Furthermore, there are several stops for food, refreshments, and entertainment at River Ranch Resort, as well as multiple spots to enjoy the tranquility along this enchanting trail.

This trail is completely paved and hiking is also a great way to see the river along this beautiful family friendly trail.
