Remote Road to North Slope

Message from Deborah + Tyler

The Dalton Highway is a 414-mile road in Alaska that runs from the Elliott Highway near Fairbanks to Deadhorse all the way near the Arctic Ocean, on the north slope of Alaska. As one of the most isolated roads in the U.S., a majority of the highway is gravel and carries a good amount of truck traffic to Prudhoe Bay. This highway has challenging conditions, steep grades, and stunning views of the Arctic landscape - but because of its remote location most rental car agencies in Alaska restrict travel here.
