Herjólfsdalur is an iconic valley located in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland which is prized for its breathtakingly beautiful landscape and historical significance. Both locals and tourists alike flock to the area every year to attend the country’s largest outdoor festival, Þjóðhátíð, or “The National Festival”. Not only that, but Herjólfsdalur was also believed to be the site of the island’s very first farm, built by settler Herjólfur Bárðarson for whom the valley was named. Here, visitors can take in many well-known landmarks, such as Fjósaklettur, Kaplagjóta, Mormónapollur, and Háhá viewpoint. Puffins can be spotted too!
