Hallormsstaður National Forest is a great place to explore the outdoors in Iceland. Located 25 kilometers inland from the town of Egilsstaðir, the 740-hectare park is filled with variety and beauty. Families can enjoy camping, boat and horse rentals, picnicking, bird watching, and taking in the different tree species located in the park's arboretum. Nature enthusiasts can take their pick from the more than 40 kilometers of marked trails and footpaths for hiking, or simply relax near the banks of one of the many clear streams within the park. For those looking for a more challenging adventure, the Strain trail provides spectacular mountain views. No matter how one chooses to spend time at Hallormsstaðastkógur, it is sure to be an unforgettable trip!
