Hverir is a surreal and otherworldly geothermal area located at the foot of the volcanic mountain Námafjall in Iceland. Featuring several mud pools, fumaroles, and hot springs, Hverir is an essential stop for any nature enthusiast. The site offers vivid reddish-orange landscapes and lies just 6km east of Lake Myvatn. Taking a short loop around Hverir reveals breathtaking views of rising steam, bubbling sulfur mud, and wide cracks in the earth’s surface creating an unforgettable experience that you won’t find in many other places.
