Eyvindarhólakirkja is a stunning historical church located in the small farm of Eyvindarhólar. The original church was first built in 1200 and has changed and grown over the centuries before being rebuilt in 1961 by the Icelandic state architect Hörður Bjarnason. Inside, visitors will find an altar and a pulpit that feature works from Hjörleifur Jónsson Í Skarðshlíð, as well as an oil painting depicting Christ's Resurrection. Outside, visitors can enjoy the peaceful grounds of the church, from which you can get the best possible view over the Eyjafjallajökull glacier (in good weather!).
