Kvíárjökull Glacier, is a spectacular and thrilling natural wonder. I like to stop here with my groups when I have extra time, and walk on the glacial moraines to enjoy the view of the lake from above (very steep, but totally worth the effort!). This massive outlet glacier is part of Vatnajokull and is the source of the scenic glacial lagoon found just off of the Ring Road. The terminal moraines reaching up to 150 meters high are the perfect backdrop for admiring this majestic glacier. Visitors can also marvel at Öræfajökull volcano, which is the second biggest stratovolcano in Europe and has a deep crater filled with ice and snow. Those daring enough can venture onto hiking trails that lead directly to the glacier's unique tongue.
