Rauðisandur is a destination in the Westfjords of Iceland, known for its remarkable red and golden sands—a rarity on Icelandic beaches. This stunning spot of nature is situated right beside Látrabjarg, Europe's highest birdwatching cliffs. The area is home to an abundant amount of wildlife, witheverything from razorbills and guillemots to grey and harbour seals, all surrounded by breathtaking sights sure to make any traveler deliriously happy. Furthermore, Rauðisandur has a vibrant cultural history with the Sjöundá farm dating back to the 19th century. It was here at this location that one of Iceland’s most famous murder mysteries occurred. A beautiful black church is to be found by it.
