Tofino is one of my favorite places in Canada. While summers are beautiful I like to go in winter for storm watching season.
Tofino is a beautiful hamlet on Canada's west coast, located of Clayoquot Sound. Storm watchers gather in the waterfront lodges to watch whales and the massive winter waves pound the coastline from October to February. Various campgrounds around the town as well as on many remote islets are available for camping. Popular activities include taking a water taxi, floatplane rides, whale watching tours, interpretive walks on the Tofino mudflats and guided canoe tours to explore the rain forests. Local fare and small shops offer unique experiences such as tasting oysters at the Oyster Festival, getting back to basics with Shelter's 'fast slow food', buying carvings stories paintings and prints that Roy Henry Vickers has made to honor the natural beauty or even trying out Baja Fish or tuna tacos from Tacofino food truck. All in all, Tofino is truly a place worth visiting!
