Tucked away in the forest near Flims, Caumasee is a breathtaking alpine lake known for its striking turquoise waters and serene setting. Often referred to as a hidden gem of the region, this idyllic spot is perfect for a relaxing day surrounded by nature. Unfortunately, it can get super busy up here on a sunny summer day, but it's still worth checking out.
The lake is accessible via a short walk from Flims Waldhaus or by taking a small funicular, which adds a touch of charm to the journey. Once there, you’ll find a pristine shoreline with crystal-clear water inviting you for a swim. The lake stays pleasantly warm in summer thanks to its underground springs, making it a favorite for swimmers.
If you’re not keen on swimming, there’s plenty to enjoy. A loop trail around the lake offers beautiful views and shaded spots for a picnic. If you're seeking more activity, paddleboards and rowboats are available to rent, allowing you to explore the lake at your own pace.
The lakeside restaurant provides delicious meals and refreshments with a view, making it easy to spend the entire day unwinding by the water.
Seraina's Tip: Going for a swim in this pretty lake unfortunately isn't free. However, if you just want to take a look and walk around the lake, you won't have to pay. You might also find a spot between the trees where you can access the lake without having to pay an entrance fee. But if you wish to use the facilities, you'll need a ticket. Also, don’t forget to take the trail that links Lake Cresta with Caumasee for a memorable day exploring two beautiful alpine lakes.
