The Hammetschwand Lift, perched on the Bürgenstock mountain near Lucerne, is the highest outdoor lift in Europe and an exhilarating way to experience Switzerland’s stunning alpine scenery. Rising 152 meters, this iconic elevator offers breathtaking views over Lake Lucerne, the surrounding mountains, and the rolling Swiss countryside.

The journey begins with a scenic walk along the Felsenweg, a cliffside path that winds through lush forests and offers panoramic views at every turn. The path leads to the base of the Hammetschwand Lift, where you can board the open-sided elevator for a thrilling ride to the summit. In less than a minute, you’ll ascend to the Hammetschwand viewpoint, which provides unmatched 360-degree views of the region.

At the top, you’ll find a peaceful terrace where you can relax, take in the views, and enjoy a meal or drink at the nearby restaurant. For hiking enthusiasts, the area offers several trails that lead through picturesque landscapes, making it a perfect destination for combining adventure with relaxation.

How to Get There
The Hammetschwand Lift is accessible via the Bürgenstock Resort, which can be reached by car, bus, or boat from Lucerne. From the resort, a short walk along the Felsenweg brings you to the lift. Entry is ticketed, and tickets can be purchased on-site.

Seraina’s Tip: For a truly memorable visit, take the boat from Lucerne to the station called "Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock" and enjoy the scenic journey across Lake Lucerne before heading up the mountain.
